Matrix Consulting Engineers Ltd is a practice of consulting Civil and Structural Engineers, specialising in the building structures field.
Run by Andy and Liam Hoyland, the firm provides all the engineering design services needed to successfully deliver building projects of all sizes in any sector, both nationally and internationally.
“Both Andy and I were made redundant from a large firm in Wakefield, which gave us the push we needed to go out and start up Matrix Consulting Engineers. The projects covered by our team include civil, geotechnical, environmental, traffic, highways, transportation, infrastructure, waste water, mechanical, electrical, public health, acoustic and fire engineers.”
The business was incorporated as a private limited company in 2016 and now works with individual homeowners who are simply looking for the design of a lintel or foundation, through to building contractors who require the design of an entire structural steelwork framed building.
“We aim to provide a friendly, fast, efficient and quality service to our customers, irrespective of the project size. The calculations we provide are suitable for obtaining Building Regulations approval and, if necessary, will include Design Risk Assessments.”
When looking for business premises back in April 2019, Andy and Liam loved the convenience of The Business Village being so close to home.
“The Business Village has good facilities such as reception, bistro and meeting rooms. It provides a clean and professional look to our business.”
Being Barnsley based, the company is also keen to support the local community. When the Covid-19 PPE crisis hit in April/May 2020, they took to social media offering face shields and mask buckles from their 3D printer to key workers in local hospitals, medical centres, and care homes.
“By May 2020, we had donated over 600 pieces of PPE to key workers in the local community.”
With over 30 years of award-winning engineering experience, the company has ambitions plans for the future.
“The Business Village has great facilities and grow-on space, but we will eventually need to purchase our own space to expand our team and branch out into other aspects of engineering and construction.”
