The Zappi chargers will only be in use from 8:30 to 17:00 Monday to Friday except on Bank Holidays.
As the Zappi charging points are likely to be used by regular users only, Reception staff will show first time users how to operate the unit. This will save us having to put a sign up outside and will dissuade chancers from trying to use the system out of hours.
The two car parking spaces in front of both the B4 car charger and in front of the Zappi chargers on the outside of B1 will soon be painted with the letters “EV” on and drivers are requested not to park in these unless accessing one of the electric charging points.
All four charging points can be booked via Reception or the Skedda system and will be available in four hours slots between 9:00 and 13:00, and 13:00 and 17:00.
Building Two has four Project EV 22kWh chargers installed outside of the building opposite the Zappi chargers. The charging rate is three times faster than the other four chargers on site. These are available 24 hours per day to any users. Control and payment for charging is managed via an App called Project EV. Signage at the charging points will guide the users on how to operate the App and the charge points. A vehicle must have the capability to accept a charge in excess of 7.2 kWh, as well as the required three phase cable or the charge point will operate at 7.2 kWh.
During Reception opening hours, a three-phase cable can be borrowed from Reception to take advantage of the faster charging rate if the vehicle does not have its own compatible cable. A standard 7.2kWh single phase cable will only deliver a charge of 7.2kWh.
The current price on the App is £0.41 per kWh including VAT for charging between 8:00 and 22:00 and £0.30 per kWh including VAT for charging between 22:00 and 8:00 the following morning. Please note this is more expensive than for the other four charging points on site which are currently subsidised.
For the Project EV chargers booking is via the App. It is basically first come first served, and once the App has been downloaded, potential users will be able to see availability of the chargers within the App as users come and go. It is highly unlikely at this stage that all four charging points will be in use at the same time, and we do not intend to keep the car parking spaces in front of each charger reserved for charging vehicles only. However, we will be requesting that cars move if a user comes on site and one of the four spaces isn’t immediately available.
The EV charging rates quoted are based upon our current electricity costs. Npower will not be informing us of the costs from April 1st 2023 until mid-April even though they will back date them to April 1st. We will confirm to all tenants the new costs asap.
