The Business Village Travel Plan

Travel Planning is not just a good idea for green thinking people. It is something that makes real sense to business.

Why?

Because while sustainable travel is the key to the future health of the environment, it also helps to generate more cost effective businesses whilst reducing operating costs and creating healthier, happier and more productive workforces.

As we introduce a new building here at The Business Village, another 25 tenant companies will eventually join us –  therefore it has become even more apparent that we should actively practice sustainable travel methods more frequently. This is why we have chosen to support the following initiatives and we would love for you to get involved too.

Car Share South Yorkshire

Lift share will match you up with potential sharers as a driver or passenger and you can choose to share a journey as little or as often as you like with whoever you like. This could be with a fellow Business Village tenant or people who live or work in Barnsley in general! This travel scheme is frequented in the area, for example, Barnsley Council are frequent users of Liftshare and have highly recommended this as a successful and reliable scheme.

Cycle Loan Scheme 

Tax is complicated; the cycle to work scheme is not. You choose a bike, hire it for an agreed length of time, then snap it up for a fraction of its original value. It’s like a year-round sale, with interest free credit available in over 2000 retail stores. You can check out how this scheme works here.

Barnsley Active Travel Hub

The Active Travel Hub is based in Barnsley Town Centre and offers a multitude of cycling aids to make sure your bike is in tip top condition ready for a safer journey to work. ATH offer cycle repairs and FREE and secure cycle parking with shower facilities if you work in town or commute from the bus or train station. There is cycle shop too which carries a range of accessories, parts and tools for cyclists as well as hosting Cycle ReCycle & Cycle Loan Schemes too.
